A session is considered any time that you meet with your tutor. Generally, a session is 1 hour long and pertains to only 1 course. However, if you and your tutor agree, your sessions can be however long you two are comfortable with. Your tutor is responsible for logging your sessions online which you can see on the sessions page of your account.
Unlike other tutoring services, we don't require you to have your sessions at a specific time or in a specific location. Instead, we allow you and your tutor the freedom to work around each other's busy schedules to decide when and where to meet! Although we focus on in-person tutoring, due to COVID-19, we are now also offering online tutoring until things return to normal. If you're meeting in-person, sessions normally take place in on-campus libraries or other academic buildings. However, if something works better for you and your tutor, go for it! If you're meeting online, you will meet on a virtual meeting platform outfitted with video, voice, chat and even a full-feature whiteboard in order to make your sessions as effective and efficient as possible!
If you run out of hours in your package, don't worry; you have options!
Option 1: You can continue meeting with your tutor just as you have been and get charged after every session. For all of your future sessions, you will be charged on a pay-as-you-go basis, only paying for the hours you use and nothing more. And the best part is all of your future sessions will be charged at your locked-in, reduced hourly rate forever and ever!
Option 2: You can also prepay for future hours and have your future sessions deduct from this balance without the need for continuous payments. One benefit of this is that if you prepay for enough hours, you may qualify for a reduced rate! (see question below) And, as always, once you lock in a reduced rate, you will never be charged a higher price ever again! To add hours, visit the dashboard page of your account.
To reduce your hourly rate, all you have to do is prepay for some of the hours you are going to use anyway. Depending on how many hours your prepay for, you will qualify for any of our 3 pricing tiers. If you can't find your class on our courses page or when submitting a tutoring request, we may still be able to help! Our tutoring capabilities change daily, so you may be in luck! To find out, you can either continue submitting a request or reach out to us directly. Either way, we will quickly respond to you letting you know whether we can help!
Unfortunately, we don't allow students to share sessions with other students. Over time, we have found that tutors convey information most effectively and students absorb that knowledge best when they are in a one-on-one environment. Throughout their sessions, the tutor and student build a rapport that helps both parties succeed!
